When I went out to check on my garden today, I found my yellow squash and my zucchini plants completely overrun with yellow lady bugs and yellow grub-like bugs with black spines all over them. I came in and searched the internet to identify the little buggers. http://bugguide.net/node/view/205331/bgimage They are either Squash Lady Beetles or the closely related Mexican Bean Beetle. Either way, they are turning the leaves of my squash plants into lace.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about how to get rid of them. Any ideas? |

I don't have any specific experience with that particular insect, but if it is a soft-bodied larvae then an oil-based spray (something like Pyola or Neem oil, which is what we use) or possibly even insecticidal soap should kill them. As far as the adults go, Neem oil might control them as well. It doesn't always kill the adults, but messes with their system so that they should stop feeding and mating. Good luck!
