Friends, I am having an awful problem with Canada thistle, but I don't want to use chemicals. It seems that the more I dig them up and get as much of the root system as I can, the better they come up :( I have had some success with planting Dutch White Clover, but it's the wrong time of year for that, so I am going to plant buckwheat until I can plant clover in the fall.
Does anyone have any success stories with controlling these infernal weeds? |

I believe this is why the thistle is the national symbol for Scotland. If you don't want to use chemicals it is a war of attrition. I will take thistle over bindweed any day, however. At least thistle stays in its place and feeds the finches.
