Default Brussels Sprouts - Falstaff - Leaves Falling

My Brussels Sprouts leaves are dropping off from the bottom. Is this normal, a deficiency, yellows?

I sacrificed one and cut the stem, didn't see the stem dried out/brown.

Read here on the forum "try taking off the bottom 6-8 inches of the BS leaves leaving the sprout on the stalk." - that's why I am wondering if this is normal.

First I thought it was a boron deficiency but then I figured out most of the people in the community garden have gotten yellows on their brassicas and wondered if I was getting it too.

If it is Yellows, I have looked at ATTRA's site and the organic solutions are a soil drench of copper, solarization, and planting resistant stock? Are there any organic solutions that would not kill beneficials? Could you also tell me if yellows can be killed in a hot compost?

Is there anything that can be done for Peppers infected with Bacterial Spot? Will hot composting kill bacterial spot?

Thank you for any and all help!
